Sunrise and Sunset Calendar

Use the sunrise and sunset calendar to compare every date in a month. Each row shows sunrise, sunset, daylight duration and the change from the preceding row for the selected location.

Finding your local sun times…

Read the month without guessing the trend

Choose the place first, then set a date in the month you want or use the calendar’s Previous and Next buttons. The heading above the table identifies the displayed month and year. The main date selector also controls the date used by the individual-day cards and export.

Sunrise and sunset are local clock times. Daylight is a duration. A positive change means the day has more calculated daylight than the preceding row; a negative value means less. The first row has no change value because there is no preceding date within the displayed table.

Use the calendar for a practical plan

For a trip, compare the dates you will actually be at the destination. A later clock-time sunset does not always mean a longer day, especially when places have different time zones. Use daylight duration for the total interval and sunset for your evening schedule.

For a photography session, the table identifies promising dates, but you will also need sun direction and the relevant light window. It does not show terrain, cloud forecasts or whether a viewpoint is accessible.

For repeated outdoor activities, inspect how morning and evening times change across the month. The daily shift is seasonal and should not be projected as a fixed number of minutes from a single date.

Print the calendar or save a selected day

The Print button opens your browser’s print dialog. You can print the page or choose a PDF destination where the browser supports it. Review the preview to check the month, place and page layout before saving.

Download selected day (.ics) creates a calendar file with sunrise and sunset entries for the date in the main selector. It does not export the whole displayed month. The entries begin at the calculated event times and use 15-minute calendar blocks; those block lengths do not mean sunrise or sunset lasts 15 minutes.

Keep time zones and missing events in context

The table follows the selected location’s time zone, including daylight-saving rules supported by your browser. A clock change can create a sudden shift in sunrise and sunset labels while the physical daylight trend remains gradual.

At high latitudes, a sunrise or sunset cell may show a dash because that crossing does not occur on the date. The daylight total can still describe continuous daylight, continuous darkness or a day with only one crossing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a sunrise sunset calendar for another year?

Yes. Choose a date in that year using the date selector, then navigate to the month you need. This is a planning tool; no precision claim is made for distant historical or future dates.

Why did downloading save a different day from the month I was viewing?

The export follows the main date selector, while Previous and Next change the displayed calendar month. Set the desired day explicitly before downloading and check the date in the filename.

Does the calendar file update automatically?

No. It is a downloaded snapshot of the selected day’s calculated events, not a subscribed calendar feed. Generate a new file if you change the location or date.

Why does an imported event show a different clock time?

Calendar applications can display imported events in their own selected time zone. The file records the event’s instant in UTC. Check your calendar’s display zone when comparing it with the destination’s local time on this site.
